'SEE YOU MORNING' 027 Night Rose
Under the heavy night, Li Haojun finished this business trip, took a plane and then a taxi to rush back home. He didn't tell Qin Wenjing in advance that he was coming back, because it was too late, yet he couldn't contain the eagerness of his return.
Taking advantage of the tranquility of the night, Li Haojun got out of the car and walked into the courtyard. The roses at the foot of the porch were blooming luxuriantly after the sunshine and rain of midsummer, and the soft late-night breeze carried a faint fragrance. Yet this prosperity and fragrance added a touch of desolation to Li Haojun's heart, all of which reminded him of the time he had missed. "Is the mistress of the house still here? Is she still waiting peacefully, just like the day I left."
For some reason, Qin Wenjing's company was as important to Li Haojun as his own life. She was like another inseparable part of his body, even an attachment deeper than to himself, and he was always afraid of losing her.
Walking into the living room, the familiar furnishings and atmosphere of the room held so many of her figures and memories. Ahead was her bedroom, the door ajar. With a heart full of anxiety and eagerness, Li Haojun pushed the door open and walked in. Seeing her familiar figure on the bed, he finally let go of his hanging heart.
She had changed to a thicker quilt, lying flat on the bed with her face turned to one side, her hair half covering her cheek. Li Haojun took off his coat and lay down beside her on his side. By the light of the night from the living room, he looked at her cheek, so familiar, and her breath, steady and even. Li Haojun wanted to tell her that he was home and was by her side, but he didn't want to disturb her sleep. So he gently rested his head on the same pillow as hers, put his left arm around her waist, and rested his hand on her hip. He buried his face in her hair, breathed in her scent, and savored the dark night of companionship.
It seemed that Li Haojun was a nostalgic person. Since he woke up with amnesia, he had already had so many beautiful memories in this house and with its mistress. From the bedroom to the living room and the kitchen, there were her figures everywhere; from the courtyard and the path to the mountains and rivers, there was her company. And this was only what had happened in the past few months. How much attachment had there been in the years before that? Was it double the feeling he had now?
When he opened his eyes again, his vision was blocked, and he had no idea what was going on, where he was, what position he was in, or what posture he was in. Li Haojun tried to clear his head, regain his strength and adjust his posture,
At that moment, he noticed her breath. He looked up and found that Qin Wenjing had held his head in her arms. She was looking down at him, her hair covering her cheek, but it couldn't hide the smile in her eyes and at the corner of her mouth,
Looking into her eyes, Li Haojun also smiled and said softly,
"I'm back."
"Hmm,"
As he spoke, Li Haojun gently put his arms around her waist. Reunited once again, he felt the warmth and softness of her skin, and the entanglement and connection in her eyes.
"Did you miss me?" Qin Wenjing asked in a slightly deep voice,
"Hmm," he replied. Li Haojun sat up, hugged Qin Wenjing tightly, and whispered in her ear,
"I missed you,"
Breathing in the scent of her hair and skin at zero distance, her flesh and blood body and the soul it carried felt so familiar. Li Haojun couldn't help but wrap his arms tightly around her waist and back. Their combined weight pushed away the pillow behind Qin Wenjing. His tight embrace and his weight restrained her position, and his hips naturally parted her legs. Gently, he sought and entered her body. The core of the flower was moist, and the embrace of love was warm. As Li Haojun kissed and deepened his connection, Qin Wenjing closed her eyes and turned her head to one side, completely absorbed, communicating only through physical contact the longing and waiting of these days, perhaps of these years, or even of lifetimes of reincarnation.
Happy times are always so simple, just the company of two people who care about each other. In the morning sun of the weekend, two figures ran and jumped in the fields. The sun had just risen, morning dew wet their shoes and trouser cuffs, and the fresh air was refreshing. Tired from running and jumping like children, the two slowed down to walk, and Qin Wenjing asked,
"How was this business trip? Didn't that Lily charm you?" She said, looking at Li Haojun with a smile,
"She seems to know something about you. Don't you know her?"
"No, I don't,"
"Oh, maybe she learned about you through other channels."
"Did the work go smoothly? Anything special?"
"Hehe, this assignment should be a military one,"
"Why do you say that?"
"It was a very remote place in the desert. All the people attending the training were young people of similar age, with a large proportion of men."
"Oh,"
"During the day I gave them training, and then Lily would drive me to a nearby town for dinner and rest. That town was quite special, a community built according to the 'anti-parasitic fairness concept'. People of the same type were assigned to the same community based on their behavioral patterns. As a result, the neighborhoods where kind-hearted people lived were peaceful every day, while the neighborhoods where mean and aggressive people gathered were full of disputes—arguments, fights, property damage, which could be seen from afar every day. When disputes escalated to the point where someone was 'cancelled', new people of the same type would be sent into the community. This is indeed much fairer for others, but isn't it a bit extreme?"
"Diversity,"
"What?" Li Haojun didn't understand,
"Diversity in social form practices. There have been relevant sociological studies on the distance that love can travel in society. If there are too many selfish people in a society, or people with neutral levels of friendliness in social interactions, they become traps for the spread of love. A friendly social interaction that reaches a selfish person is very likely not to be passed on. And those neutral people may also turn negative due to a lack of feeling social care. Therefore, in later social practices, in order for the whole society to develop in a positive direction, those social participants marked as 'love traps' are isolated. Of course, the proportion and scale of social practices vary in different regions."
"Oh, you told me before that those kind people who never hurt others live very well. Do they also have their own exclusive communities?"
"No," Qin Wenjing deliberately denied Li Haojun in a playful tone,
"Then how do they live so well?"
"The vast majority of them volunteer to be seeds of love scattered throughout society. Only those who have been hurt return to their communities to heal themselves."
"Oh, then are we...?" As soon as the words left his mouth, Li Haojun thought about it and realized he had almost no social life, so he definitely wasn't. He laughed at himself and said,
"Forget it. We don't contribute much to society except for our work."
Qin Wenjing chuckled and looked at Li Haojun. When their eyes met, Li Haojun perked up again, grabbed Qin Wenjing's arm and said,
"Hey, who says I'm not a seed of love? I can sow seeds of love too," he said, giving Qin Wenjing a mischievous smile and dragging her towards home,
At this moment, Qin Wenjing understood what he meant. She kept saying no, but her body was very compliant.
Returning to the small courtyard of their home with the one he loved, the plantains in the corner, the roses in the shade, and the roses under the porch—everything was so familiar. The golden morning hours passed quickly, but this time Li Haojun felt no emptiness or loss in his heart as time went by, because he was holding his lover's hand tightly.
