Synopsis

Lily has spent her life fighting for survival. Born two centuries after a nuclear holocaust, she scratched out a living as a courier until a terrible injury set her adrift in an unforgiving world.

After an act of mercy makes her the target of a technocratic regime, she finds an unlikely partner in 74, a deserter with a dangerous secret. Injured, desperate, and hunted by a merciless enforcer, he will do whatever it takes to survive.

Hesitant to trust one another and accustomed to solitude, Lily and 74 form an uneasy alliance in pursuit of a common goal: a green paradise in the west, spared from war and fallout. The only path is through the Wasteland, an irradiated desert a thousand miles wide. No one has ever survived a crossing. Lily intends to be the first. The journey will test not only her resolve, but her strange, ever-changing relationship with 74.

The road is treacherous, but the secrets they uncover along the way are deadlier still. The powers responsible for the collapse of civilization are still at play, and as they tighten their grip on what's left of the world, Lily is forced to decide whether the future she wants is worth fighting for - and what she's willing to do to achieve it.
