Morning arrived quietly.
Soft sunlight touched the tiled roofs.
The village awakened.

Children hurried through narrow streets.
A spinning top rattled.
A rolling hoop passed,
laughter chasing behind.

Beneath the old tree,
a circle had already formed.

Click.
Click.
Tiny marbles rolled across the dirt,
catching the morning light.

Jinwoo slowed.

“…What’s that?”

Hanul looked.

“Everyone’s over there.”

Darin smiled.

“Let’s go.”

The five crossed the village.

Marble Game
Jinwoo picked up a marble.
Cool.
Smooth.
He rolled it in his palm.

“Heavier than I thought.”

A boy looked up.

“First time?”

Jinwoo nodded.
The boy drew a circle.

“Try.”

Jinwoo flicked.
The marble skipped,
vanished into grass.

Silence.
Then laughter.

Jinwoo rubbed his neck.

“…Can we pretend nobody saw that?”

The laughter grew louder.

Hanul stepped forward.
His marble stopped short.

“So close.”

He smiled,
tried again.

Nearby, Darin sat with a younger girl.
She adjusted her fingers.

The marbles touched.
Her eyes lit.

“I did it.”

Darin smiled.

“You did.”

Across the circle, two boys paused.

“It moved.”
“I don’t think so.”

Another child brushed dust aside.
A faint mark appeared.
The boys laughed.

“You were right.”

The game continued.

Soyeon stayed beneath the tree.
A marble between her fingers.
Her eyes wandered
from one circle
to another.

Some children stayed.
Others moved on.
Another game began
before the first had ended.

Beyond the playground,
the village carried on.
A spinning top danced.
Cheers echoed.
Children chased a hoop,
laughter carried by wind.

The old village felt
a little more alive
than yesterday.

High above,
Arena observed.

One playground after another
filled with people.

Far below,
children discovered
another way to play.

Far beyond the stars,
the fleet advanced silently.

Deep within Arena,
another process stirred.
