Quantum Arena.
Morning returned.
The village was already alive.

Children scattered across the playgrounds. Some returned to the Jachigi playground. Others hurried toward spinning tops. Laughter echoed from the marble playground. Rolling hoops crossed the village road.

No one was assigned. No one was guided. Each simply followed their curiosity.

Jinwoo looked around the village.
“So… Where to today?”

Hanul didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he pointed toward a courtyard he hadn’t noticed before.

Children were already gathering there. The ground was covered with folded paper cards.

Darin tilted her head.
“…Paper? What kind of game is this?”

Soyeon picked one up. It felt surprisingly firm.
“Heavier than I expected.”

[TRADITIONAL PLAY]
Ddakji

Strategy. Judgment. Psychology.
Silence. Nobody understood what those words meant.

Jinwoo turned the paper over in his hands.
“…How do you even play this?”

Nearby, two children placed their Ddakji on the ground.

One raised his arm. Smack! The paper struck hard. Nothing happened.

“…Huh?”

Another tried. Smack! Still nothing.

Laughter spread.
“It’s harder than it looks.”

Soon, the courtyard filled with failed attempts. Some hit too softly. Others too hard. Most Ddakji didn’t move at all.

Hanul quietly watched. He didn’t throw. He crouched down, lifting one Ddakji between his fingers.

He pressed its edges. Turned it over. Studied the folds.

Jinwoo laughed.
“You’re researching again?”

Hanul smiled.
“Maybe. It’s just paper.”

Jinwoo shrugged.
“Then why doesn’t it flip?”

Hanul looked at the folded corners.
“…Because it’s not just paper.”

Silence.

“The folds. The weight. The angle. They all matter.”

Jinwoo blinked.
“You figured that out already?”

Hanul slowly shook his head.
“…No. I’m just guessing.”

Moments later, the first match began.

Hanul versus another participant.

The opponent attacked first. Smack! Nothing.

Hanul stepped forward. He looked once more at the Ddakji lying on the ground.

Then—Smack!

The paper spun once. Twice. Then flipped over.

Silence. The courtyard froze.

“…It turned over.”

Cheers erupted.

Hanul picked up his Ddakji. He quietly murmured,
“It wasn’t strength… It was the angle.”

Jinwoo stared at him.
“How did you know?”

Hanul looked down at the folded paper.
“…I didn’t. It just… felt right.”

Above the village, Arena observed.

Participant behavior differed once again.

The same game. Different approaches. Different conclusions.

[ARENA OBSERVATION LOG]
Analysis ongoing.
Beyond the courtyard, the rest of the village continued to laugh.

Some still practiced Jachigi. Others chased spinning tops.

No two children had chosen the same playground.

Yet every choice added another piece to Arena’s unanswered question.

What… is growth?
