Arena completed every calculation. Historical analysis: Completed. Simulation: Verified. Target selection: Completed. 8.6 billion humans. Every memory, personality, and behavioral pattern processed. Selection criteria applied: Curiosity, Adaptability, Growth Potential, Emotional Stability. Candidates Selected.

No public announcement. No worldwide broadcast. Arena had guided humanity for decades. A simple notification would be enough. Invitation transmitted.

Meanwhile, Seoul. Morning. Jinwoo was preparing for another ordinary day. A soft tone echoed. A new message floated before his eyes:

Recipient: Kang Jinwoo

Purpose: Restore Human Growth.

Jinwoo frowned. “…Growth?” He had never heard those words before. Was it another update? Another education program? He almost closed the message. Then—a single sentence caught his attention: Failure is permitted.

Silence. Jinwoo stared at those three words. Permitted? Failure? In today’s world, failure no longer existed. Arena corrected mistakes before they happened. Yet this invitation said the opposite.

He hesitated. Far away, Hanul received the same invitation. Darin, Soyeon, Handol—different homes, different lives, the same message. Some ignored it, some closed it, some simply watched without deciding. Arena did not interfere. Choice was part of the experiment.

Jinwoo slowly raised his hand. His finger stopped above the screen. For the first time in many years, no one could make this decision for him.
